Only the Essential Things Get Done

This weekend, I made a to do list, in an effort to be productive, and to make up for dropping the ball on the blog challenge on Thursday, Friday and yesterday. Instead of getting stuck into it yesterday, I met up with a friend and we visited Dyffryn Gardens, which is a beautiful National Trust house and gardens. We had an amazing time, and I took loads of photos which I’m putting on Instagram.

But it meant that I got nothing on my to do list done, except for the food shopping on the way home.

When I looked at my list this morning, all I could cross off was the essential things. Food and things that made money. Everything else? It hadn’t got done because it wasn’t essential. Up until Thursday last week, I had made writing a blog post every day an essential thing. Because I wanted to complete the challenge. But after missing a day, because I went to bed early, writing a blog post a day became a non-essential thing. So then it didn’t seem to matter if I missed Friday as well. And then also yesterday.

In order for things to get done – they must be essential. Now, I know you’re probably thinking, I do lots of things every day that aren’t essential – waste time on Facebook, watch pointless TV, spend hours chatting with friends, etcetera. Though that may be true, and these things are not essential, they also require no motivation or effort. Whereas the things that are non-essential on our to do list, often require a certain amount of motivation and effort to do. Unless we make them an essential thing, and therefore do them, whether we want to or not and whether we have the energy or not. Motivation is not needed.

Does any of this make any sense? One of the things on my to do list recently was getting the audiobook of The Earth Angel Training Academy done, and released. I had been making good progress, and sent the first few chapters to a friend who has not read the book, but loves audiobooks. On Friday, I received a message from her saying: “Can I have the second half of the book now please!!??” Which has now made the audiobook an essential thing I must do!

So have a look at your list. What is essential? What can be made essential? Because truly, only the essential things will get done.

I won’t leave it so long next time…

You know when you haven’t spoken to someone for so long, and so much has happened, that you don’t know where to begin? Yeah, that’s how I feel right now. I have not blogged since May, and it feels like the longer I leave it, the harder it gets to know where to start!

So, here is an update of where I currently am:

First of all, apologies for my blog absence, I have been away in America and Canada, and I had so many amazing experiences, that I plan to create a blog series about it all, including some of the awesome photos I took of the places we went to. I’m not quite ready to begin the series, because I literally took thousands of photos, and I have been so busy with work since I got back, that I haven’t even had a chance to look at them yet! But it will be coming soon, I promise. I did post some of my photos on Instagram along the journey, you can see them here.

I’ve also set myself some deadlines for the remaining classes in the Earth Angel Training Academy, my apologies to those waiting for the four final classes, they will be published by the end of August. I appreciate your patience!

While away I began writing the 8th book in the Earth Angel series, and I intend to continue, and publish it in early 2017. The 7th book will be out by November 2016, I will post more updates soon!

I am working on an Earth Angel series for Children, but I have no publishing dates set for that yet.

I am formatting the rest of the Visionary Collection for Smashwords, which means then that all of my books will be available on all the possible platforms.

I have an exciting new project to help Indie Authors and creators, and I will be announcing that officially very soon!

Hmm, I realise that I have just put my massive to-do list out to the world right now, but I figure it’s good to have some accountability! I am working on many publishing projects for clients right now, and I am so excited to help them bring the work out into the world. I will announce them here too when they are published.

Here’s a quote photo for you 🙂 It was taken in the garden of the Unity of Sedona, the quote is from I’m Here.

Catching the Hogwarts Express…

It’s September 1st! Time to get to King’s Cross, and run through the wall to Platform 9 3/4 to catch the train to Hogwarts.

Don’t worry, I haven’t completely lost the plot, I promise. I have just decided that as of today, I am going to invite more magic into my life on a daily basis. I have been much more aware of the magical nature of the forest, as I have been seeking out magical things to photograph and post on Instagram, but I think it’s important to bring magic into everything I do. Especially the things that I’m not so fond of doing!

I think that so much more is possible when we are in a state of excitement and enjoyment and feeling like things are magical. More opportunities arrive, things go more smoothly, ideas flow easily and everything just seems like a lot more fun.

Thanks to the dismal British non-summer, I have taken to wearing my extreme-crocheted helmet-hat, which I made the other day. Somehow, knowing I look a little bit silly, brightens my day. (And it has the added bonus of making my partner laugh when he sees me wearing it!)

Yep, I know I look crazy 🙂

So what do you think? Is it possible to make every day life more magical? Is it possible to bring fun and faerie-silliness into even the most boring of tasks? I would love to know your thoughts!

Hello, it’s Aria! (Yes, I’m a Faerie)

Finally! I have been waiting for ages for Michelle to be too busy to blog and for her to ask me to write one! She keeps saying about creating a blog just for me, but has she done it yet? No! Of course, she’s just too busy. Humph.

Oh, yeah, by the way, it’s Aria. I’m a Faerie. Yep. You read that right. I have dragonfly wings and everything. And I’m a super fast flier. Just ask Linen. If you don’t know who Linen is, and want to know more about just how awesome I am, then you should read Michelle’s book – The Earth Angel Training Academy. I’m one of the main characters, and I have all the best lines. Cos, well, you know. I’m awesome.

So anyway, Michelle is busy editing the new book in the Earth Angel series (which I’m not in, which totally sucks!) and so I said I would take over, though I have no idea what to say, really.

It seems like the weather in the UK is a little messed up at the moment, with far too much rain for summertime, which means that lots of mushrooms have started growing in the woods, which I kind of like, actually. Here’s some cool photos of them, in case you were curious.

Michelle has started doing a card a day mini readings on Instagram, where she’s also posting lots of funky photos, if you want to follow her, hop on over there. Personally I think she likes Instagram too much, and spends too much time on there that could be spent building my blog, but nevermind. One day, eh?

Until then, I’ll just take over her blog every now and then, though next time, I promise I’ll have something more interesting to say. Maybe. Hopefully. Anyway, have a great day, and don’t forget to say hi to the Faeries when you’re outside. Okay. Love you! Bye!

PS. Let the grass grow!!!
