What Question Would You Ask an Angel?

If you could ask an Angel a question, what would you ask?

The reason I created the Amethyst, Aria and Velvet Oracle cards, was so that my readers could interact with the characters from my books. I’ve been doing Oracle Card of the Day readings on youtube, but it felt too general and a little boring to pick a card for a specific day but with no specific question.

So I am putting a call out to my readers, and indeed anyone with a burning question they would like answered, to send me their question, and who the question is for – Aria the Faerie, Amethyst the Angel or Velvet the Old Soul.

You can watch the video below to see how it works.

Keep the Fire Burning

Gryffindor Common Room

(The above photo is not of my house, but of the Gryffindor Common Room, taken at the Making of Harry Potter Studios in London. I did have a photo of our fire, but this one looked so much cooler!)

I live in a house where in the winter, our heating and hot water comes from a wood-burning stove. To keep the house warm and the showers hot, it takes a consistent daily effort to light the fire and keep it going throughout the day. And if you can light the fire in the morning with embers from the previous nights’ fire, it takes much less effort to keep it going. If  decided one day that I couldn’t be bothered to light the fire, the house would soon grow really cold. After a few days, there would only be cold showers available and a whole lot of shivering. During really cold winters, it would take three days to properly warm up the house after getting the fire going again.

So what does this have to do with anything? Well, I realised yesterday that writing a book is very similar to keeping the house warm. When in the middle of a novel, if I write something every day, I stay in the flow of the story, I can remember what the characters are up to, and each day I might only need to re-read a few lines to re-orientate myself and keep going. The story then remains consistent, and I can get a novel done in a month. But when there are long periods of time between writing, days, weeks, sometimes even months, the story grows cold. I then have to re-read everything, try to remember what was going on and it may take a few days to pick up the thread and continue the story in a way I’m happy with.

So if I know this, why don’t I write every day? After all, all the great writers did. They had a routine that they stuck to, and they would make writing the most important task on their daily agenda. Truth is, I don’t really know why I don’t write every day. When I wrote my first novel, The Earth Angel Training Academy, it was easy to write every day. Of course, I wasn’t working or in a relationship then, so I had no other major distractions. But also, there were no expectations. No one knew who I was, no one had read my work (other than a few English teachers, of course) so I was free to create without worry. Now, with readers waiting for my next published work, there’s a little more pressure. Some people are motivated by this kind of pressure, but as a writer who never knows if her writing is any good until the first person reads the manuscript, it’s more nerve-wracking than motivating!

But perhaps these are just excuses, or self-sabotage. I mean, I could just as easily say that I just haven’t found the right routine, or the right writing chair or the perfect music. Setting crazy deadlines used to be a fantastic motivator, but once you’ve allowed a few to slip by, they lose their potency. I recently came across the method that Seinfeld uses, where you put a cross on the calendar for every day you do the thing you want to do. And the crosses then form a chain. If you don’t write for a day, you ‘break the chain’. I was planning on giving the method a go, after all I figured it couldn’t hurt, but ultimately, I just need to figure out a way to get some words down every day, to keep the story from going cold, and having to start all over again each time I sit down to write.

How do you motivate yourself? What makes you plug away on a daily basis, keeping the fire going? I don’t think there is a magic, one-size-fits-all answer, but I do find it interesting to hear different people’s ways of working. Comment below if you’d like to share yours.

A New Vision for 2014

In less than 30 hours, the new year will have begun. I feel that 2012 was a year of destruction (of old ways, old patterns and old relationships) 2013 was a year of transformation (finding new paths and new ways of being) and 2014, in my mind, is the year of making things happen. Of creating the reality that we actually want to live in.

In order to prepare for a year of making it happen, I feel that it’s important to have a clear vision. The clearer you are about where you want to go, what you want to do and accomplish, the better the reality you will create.

So, to begin with, I have my Vision Board, which I created with my publishing partner and long-time friend – Liz Lockwood.

vision board

Creating a vision board (or diary – I did a diary for 2013, and many of the things in there came to fruition, but that’s another blog post!) is very simple. You put pictures, photos, sketches, words etc on a board. Preferably in a place where you will see it often, so as to remind yourself to keep your activities in line with you dreams and goals. My board is currently propped up on my desk. I will probably stick it on the wall next to me. Having photos of yourself on the board is important – so that you are placing yourself in that reality.

The other thing you could do is simply sketch it. You don’t need to be an artist to do this, stick figures are fine. I watched this great TED talk the other day, where a lady called Patti Drobrowolski demonstrates how to do this.

This was my attempt at sketching my desired future!

desired new reality

So as you can see, no artistic skills required! But it was good to clarify things, to decide what I wanted.

Tomorrow is Marketing Plan day. and I plan to figure out how to market my books, and how to structure my time more efficiently. Which means that by the time January 1st rolls around, I will have in place everything I need to make things happen in 2014.

What are you going to make happen?

Merry Christmas Eve!

Xmas Stocking

My stocking is out ready, is yours??

Well, it’s certainly been a very interesting year, and I don’t know if I am sad or relieved to see it end. I spent the first five months of the year living out of my suitcase, as I travelled to California, Hong Kong, around the UK, Oregon and then London! By May I was feeling a little worn out, but at the same time, I felt ready to make things happen. It was after attending Unleash the Power Within with Tony Robbins, and walking on fire, that I finally decided to go for it, and make a living doing what I enjoyed, not doing something that drained me.

Pretty much the day after making this decision, I got my first project, helping the awesome Adrian Incledon-Webber with publishing his first book – Heal Your Home. More projects soon came along, as my authors began recommending me to others, and word of mouth about my Amethyst Angel Indie Publishing servicesspread.

Then in July, after 6 months apart, my partner, (and Twin Flame) met up again, and decided to get back together. And I’ve been living with him in our little hideaway in the woods ever since, feeling like I am now finally home.

I finished the latest novel in the Earth Angel series, The Other Side,  in September, and released in it November. It was a tough one to write, but I got there in the end. Seeing as I only managed to write one novel this year, I plan to publish two novels and a poetry anthology next year, so along with all the new publishing projects I have been taking on recently, it looks like it will be a very busy year indeed! At the moment I am very pleased to be working with the lovely Lori Lesko, on her book – Copyright – A Novel. Keep an eye out for it!

Also in the pipeline for next year, is to begin creating audio books, re-vamping and republishing The Doorway to PAM, and doing more regular oracle card readings and other videos. Oh, and I have a big birthday in January too… I am both excited and a little wary, but I know it will be an amazing year, no matter what my age is 🙂

But before all of that, I plan to have a wonderfully chilled-out Christmas, and I hope you do too! Thank you for following my blog, and for supporting me by buying and reading my books, it is all very much appreciated.

Love and light,

Michelle.xx

The Tapping Solution Movie

Just this evening I watched The Tapping Solution. It’s being shown free on the net until the 20th of December. It’s really a must-watch. Even if you know all about EFT, or Meridian Tapping, it’s still worth watching. Why? Because unless you actually use these tools, they’re pretty useless! Which is something that’s really been hitting home with me just recently. I have read so many books, watched so many videos, spoken to so many people. I know what tools to use to improve different parts of my life, I know how to be healthy, I know what is good for me and what isn’t. So why do I still remain stuck in the past at times? Why do I keep thinking the same thoughts? Keep running the same patterns?

Because it’s easier than implementing the processes and tools and actually changing. That’s why.

It’s easier to be broke and miserable than it is to be abundantly wealthy and happy. Because to be those things, it takes work. It doesn’t just happen. You actually have to use the methods that you know work consistently to get results. And therein lies my sticking point. Consistency. I have no routine to my life, no real structure. I work from home, I am my own boss (though I do have clients that at time set deadlines I need to stick to). I don’t have to be up at a certain time, I don’t have to worry about feeding anyone except myself and my partner (and he will testify to the fact that when I’m in the middle of something, I don’t notice it’s past lunchtime until it’s 2 or 3pm).

So how to implement a routine when you don’t need to?

Haven’t figured that out yet! But I have found a way to remind myself to use the tapping –

tapping

Yup, I have written it on the wall above the sink where I brush my teeth. So at least twice a day, I will tap about anything that is bothering me. I already did that this evening and ended up with a big grin on my face! So watch the movie, the link is here – http://thetappingsolution.com/screening/ts-film.html then write on your walls and release all of the beliefs and the pain and anything else that is holding you back.

By the way, I am no expert, but I have seen the benefits first-hand from tapping. In fact, I blogged back last year about how I used EFT to rid myself of my fear of public speaking. If you try it and see some benefits yourself, comment below, if you tried it and it didn’t work, still comment! Happy Tapping 🙂

The Amethyst Angel Christmas Party!

The downside to working from home is that you don’t get to have a work Christmas Party. Well, normally, anyway. Yesterday, Liz Lockwood, my good friend and editor, came over and we had our very own Amethyst Angel Christmas party. … Continue reading

The Best Christmas Gift!

Me & NealeYou might remember that back in March this year, I attended the Spiritual Renewal Retreat in Oregon – which is four and a half days with Neale Donald Walsch. During the session on the  Friday, I had the chance to speak to Neale, to thank him for running the free retreat, which had enabled me to be able to attend. He asked me what I did, and I told him that I was a Spiritual Fiction Author. He asked for the title of a book I had written, and I replied ‘The Earth Angel Training Academy’.

He said he wanted to read the book, so the following day, I took in a copy I had with me (as I was about to begin writing The Other Side, and had taken it with me for research purposes). I gave it to Neale, who was very excited to be receiving gifts (at the same time, he was receiving a signed CD from the drummer of the Turtles, who was also on the retreat).

On the last day, the Sunday, we all gathered in the room, and I was sitting at the front. As Neale began the session, he pointed at me, and said ‘You!’ He then turned to the rest of the group, and told them that if he looked a bit bleary that day, it was because he had stayed up until 2am to read my book! He told everyone that they should all get a copy, but not to read it at night if they wanted to get any sleep!

Will Richardson, Neale’s friend and the President and Director of Programs at the CWG Foundation, also read The Earth Angel Training Academy, and The Elphite, both of which he reviewed on Amazon for me.

I didn’t want to bother Neale for a review, as I know he is a very busy man, but I was eager to know what he had thought after he had finished reading the book, so I e-mailed him yesterday and asked him for his thoughts.

I never expected to receive a reply so quickly, but I woke up this morning to find his e-mail, and needless to say, have been very happy since!

Here it is –

“The Earth Angel Training Academy packs wonderful and ancient truth into an imaginatively original tale that both delights and enlightens. The result: a read that is both fun and inspiring.”  — Neale Donald Walsch

It was the best Christmas gift I could have asked for. If you would like to buy a copy of The Earth Angel Training Academy as a gift for someone this Christmas, there is still plenty of time! You can get one here.

Have a wonderful day!

Is everything written in the stars (and planets)?

I recently met an astrologer, Keith Bound, through a friend of mine (Liz Chukwu, author of Kismet), who did a reading for me. I have had many readings from mediums and psychics, and also tarot and palm readings. Most of which have been quite good, and quite accurate, but this was the first astrology reading I’ve had, and quite honestly, it blew me away.

Keith had my basic information – birth date, time and place. He also knew that I helped authors to publish their work. But that was it. He then looked at my chart and recorded a 58 minute reading and sent it to me as an MP3. The first time I listened to it, I alternated between giggling and gasping, wondering how on earth he could get so much information from just my basic details.

I won’t go into detail about what Keith told me in the reading, although I will say that the overall theme is that the next 12 months of my life are going to be very exciting, with lots of big opportunities coming up. The reading came at the perfect time, as I was in need of confirmation that I was on the right track, and Keith gave me that confirmation, and the confidence to continue on my path.

Having the reading made me wonder, yet again, about fate and destiny. Do we really have the free will to choose what we want to do in our lives, or is it all mapped out ready for us from the moment we are born? Or is it even decided before we are born?

I explored this idea a little in The Elphite, where Ellie lives the same life over and over again. She tries to change things each time, but no matter what she does, there are certain things that happen regardless of her actions. But as you will know if you have read the book, she does manage to change her life when she changes her thinking.

People have asked me why I would want to have a reading that foretold the future, why I would want to know what is going to happen ahead of time, and my response to that is that I like to have confirmation that I am on the right path. I have had readings where I’ve been told that certain things aren’t going to work out, or that situations or relationships are going to be difficult. And instead of this information worrying or upsetting me, I find that it gives me the gift of being able to choose how I handle the situation when it arrives. Because as much as I hate plotting my novels and I love to surprise my readers with mad twists, in real life, I like to know what’s going to happen next.

Stay tuned, because 2014 is going to be a wild ride, and this is where you will be able to read all about it.

PS. Get in touch with Keith for a reading, it will be the best thing you’ve ever done, I promise.

Living life to the fullest

Paul Walker

I was really sad to hear the news this morning about Paul Walker dying in a car accident in California. Having been an avid fan of The Fast & The Furious, and a fan of his before that, as Varsity Blues and The Skulls were two of my favourite movies, it was awful to think that I wouldn’t see him in any future movies. (After Fast & Furious 7, which I hope they are still able to finish). Forty years old is way too young to be leaving this earth, but after talking to my partner about it, he made me realise that actually, Paul Walker has probably lived more in those forty years, than most people do in twice that amount of time.

He followed his passions, took risks, made blockbuster movies, and also supported charities, raising awareness for different causes. I get the feeling that he was the kind of person who lived without regrets. How many of us can say that? How many people die every day, having never realised their dreams, followed their passions or figured out their purpose? Too many, I think.

And so, I have decided, that 2014 is to be a year of making things happen. Of realising dreams, pursuing passion and leaving no room for regrets. 2012 was a year of destruction of the old ways, 2013 has been a year of transformation, so it makes sense that next year will be the year that it all comes together. In fact, I have been told that the next 12 months are going to be the most exciting yet for me, I will tell you more about that in my next post.

Rest in peace, Paul, and thank you for teaching us to live life to the fullest. x
