Farewell 2017!

What an… interesting year it has been! Twelve months ago on this day I could not have even dreamed of what was to come. Not in a million years. But then, that seems to be the case for me almost every year! I actually gave up owning a wall calendar a few years ago, because I was fed up of hanging it up in one place in January, and seeing it hung in a totally different home/location/country by December!

The nomadic lifestyle I have been living for the last ten years is something I very much wanted back then. I actually wrote in my diary that I didn’t want to be stuck in any one place for too long, I wanted to move about, travel, and meet lots of people. Well, I certainly got that! I have mostly lived out of a suitcase or my car for the last ten years, and I have decided that it’s time to manifest a more stable foundation for myself, so that I can build the life I really want. Because as fun as it has been, the nomadic life is not something I want to continue.

So what are you leaving behind in 2017? What are you creating anew in 2018? Tonight, my friend Clare (of Artemis Rising) and I are going to release the past stuff, and set new intentions (not resolutions, those things are pants) for the coming year and many years to come. I think the time has come to make a longer term plan than just the next 6 or 12 months. It’s time to look at where I would like to be in 5 years, or even, gulp, 10 years.

Because as the saying goes, if we don’t know where we’re going, how will we know when we get there?

I hope you have a wonderful New Years’, and set some brilliant and challenging intentions for the coming year. It’s time to fly!

One of my intentions for the coming year is to revive this blog, posting more often, and making it more interactive. I would like to do more interviews and invite other people to guest post too. Two years ago, I posted that I had just reached 40k all time views, and as of yesterday, I just crossed the 80k mark! I am so blown away by the number of people who have visited my blog, from over 170 countries! So I feel it is time to honour all my amazing readers and put more time and effort into this. So if you have any topics you’d like me to cover, please do comment!

I’m sure you believe me, but here’s the proof!

Much love to you, I’ll see you in the New Year!

Beginner’s Luck

As a follow-up to my previous post on self-development seminars reminding me of casinos, I wanted to look at the idea from a slightly different perspective.

My first post looked mainly at the angle that perhaps the organisers and hosts of some of the events, did not have the best of intentions when it came to the participants. That they were unscrupulously making money from people who were in a vulnerable stage in their lives, looking for their purpose.

In this post, I want to look at the intentions and point of view of the participants, and perhaps how they may be searching for the magic ‘key’ and how that may not be very realistic. After all, the seminars and workshops wouldn’t exist if there weren’t scores of people looking for the magic formula to make their lives amazing.

I feel that quite often, beginner’s luck comes into play, when someone goes to a seminar for the first time ever (or indeed buys a lotto ticket or visits a casino for the first time) and they go through a transformation that changes their life for the better. Suddenly, they’re telling everyone they know, and they start attending more and more seminars, hoping to improve their lives even further. But then things plateau out. The changes become less dramatic, and the person then starts spending more, upgrading to the more advanced packages and seeks out the next big win desperately, unaware that they are gambling away more than they can afford.

The thing is, that first bit of luck may have happened in order to encourage the person to improve their lives, but as with anything, no one can expect to make big changes and improvements without actually doing some hard work.

Yes, that’s right – the magic key really is just hard work. As well as passion, perseverance and determination. Of course there will still be the jackpot winners who appear to magically manifest all they desire with very little effort, but I bet if you were to delve deeper you would find that they too, struggled before that win.

As they say, all over-night successes have been ten years in the making. So if you find yourself voraciously attending seminars and workshops, and yet your life is not working out the way you would like, please do ask yourself why you are doing it, what you are looking for. You may find you already have all the information you need, all the support you need, and really all there is left to do, is put in the hard work.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this, please do comment if anything I’ve said has struck a chord with you.

Choosing My Reality

Last week, I finished the first draft of my latest novel, which I have called ‘I’m Here‘. The big push to finally finish it was provided by my sister, as we challenged each other to finish the first drafts of our projects by the 11th March, and both of us made it! In the last few days leading up to the deadline, I was writing anything from 3000 to 5500 words a day. I could have just written 1500 words a day for two weeks, but instead I preferred to leave it all to the last minute and write 15,000 words in just a few days. Anybody who has done Nanowrimo and loves the last minute, will understand this!

It was weird to finally finish the book, because unlike many of my other novels, this one took a considerable amount of time to come into being. I wrote down the idea for the book more than a year prior to beginning it. I then started to write the book during Nanowrimo in November 2012. But I hit a block and found myself unable to continue writing it. So I stopped and decided to write The Other Side instead. Then in November 2013, during Nanowrimo, I decided it was time to finish it. I cut the last chapter I had written the previous year, and started to write. But again, I hit blocks during that month and set it aside again. I was struggling to get it finished, and it was only the deadline imposed by my sister (and the promise of a homemade prize!) that got me to finish it.

One of the reasons I think I found it difficult to finish the book, was because over the last few years, I have noticed that many of the events that I have written about in my books, have actually come to pass. It might sound totally crazy, but not only have I met some of my characters in real life (with the same names, characteristics, appearances, personality etc.) but I have also experienced some of the situations I have created in my novels. So when writing this book, I had a vague idea of where it was going, and I didn’t want to write it, because I didn’t want it to happen in my own life.

Now, if you are into the law of attraction, or believe in saying or writing affirmations, you might not find this concept to be so crazy. After all, with every word we think or say, we are creating our own reality. We are choosing what we are going to experience. And when I write these scenes, these stories, I am in effect, calling them forth to me. This idea was brought home to me when I read the story of the author Iain Banks, who died of cancer shortly after writing a novel about a man who dies of cancer. In this article it is said that he had written 90% of the novel before finding out his own diagnosis, so it wasn’t based on his own experiences. Some people may be offended by the idea that by writing the book, he chose to experience the same fate as his character. And I do honestly hope that is not the case. But what if we do have the power to choose our own reality in that way? My new book explores that idea, that we do actually have a choice in what we experience in life. That our intentions become our reality.

When I was a child, I loved the cartoon Penny Crayon. She was a girl who had the ability to create anything – places, people, objects, by drawing them with her special crayon. I was fascinated by the idea as a child, because it somehow made perfect sense to me. Over the years, I have manifested many things, often with the help of vision boards or through writing down my desires in the form of a simple sentence – I choose to tune into the reality where… I have lost count of the number of times I have read back through notebooks and diaries only to find what I had chosen and written down, had actually become my reality.

I have also lost count of the number of times people have asked me to write a book about them winning the lotto…

The thing is, with this knowledge, you would think I would just write about the things I would like to experience, that I would craft the stories to reflect what I wish for in my life. But it doesn’t work that way for me. When I write, I have no real say in what happens in the story. I am merely recording, writing down, the story of the characters. I have joked before now about not being an author, but a spiritual secretary, just taking dictation from above. So I decided that whether I wanted to create the reality or not, the book needed to be written. I’m now in the editing stages, and am planning to publish it by April/May. I will post updates on the progress of it, and plan to post excerpts from it very soon.

In the meantime, I’m going to choose the reality where I have a cup of tea and a cake in front of me, and I hope you choose the reality where you have a fabulous Monday!

The Speed of Change

Mating Butterflies

I know that I am not the only one who has noticed just how quickly life seems to be changing at the moment. To me it feels as though my life has been a constant series of changes since around 2006. More has happened in my life in the last 7 years than happened in the previous 22 years. Why is this? Is it simply the idea that time speeds up as we age, or is it more than that? Because it is not just that things are changing quickly, but that things and situations are being rapidly manifested.

Just four days after writing about Twin Flame Relationships, everything changed for me.

I met up with my own Twin Flame, for dinner and to chat. Despite not having been together in a relationship for more than 6 months, we still missed each other’s company. He was the one who had sent me the video on Youtube of the stages of a Twin Flame relationship. He had recognised our relationship in the patterns described, and thought I would find it interesting. We talked all evening, and met up a couple more times over the course of the following week, and by the end of the next weekend, (14th July) we were back together. He asked me to move in with him and so here I am, just 20 days after writing about getting a second chance to be with a Twin Flame, with my Flame, living the life that I had always wanted to live.

Did I manifest it? Or were we fated to get back together? I was only in the area because my dear Faerie friend from Peace of Stone had invited me to stay with her for the week. What if I had refused the invitation? Would my reunion with my Flame not have happened? Or was it because I chose a parallel universe where we were together? Have I skipped to another dimension, another reality?

I suppose the real question is, does any of that matter? I had hoped that perhaps I would be able to offer some guidance and wisdom to other souls out there who know their Flames but are not with them. I guess all I can say is – if it is meant to be, then it will be. And don’t hold on to the past. It was only when I truly and completely let go of the idea of being with my Twin, only when I accepted that it may well never happen, cut all energetic cords and ties to him, that it finally did happen. I was willing to move on, to live my life without him, and to make the best I possibly could with what I had.

So perhaps gratitude for whatever we have in our lives, even if it’s not what we really want, is the key to manifesting what we do really want.

What do you think?
